Q&A: Barry Sussman on Watergate, His Book, and The Future

Until then, here are a list of questions the editorial team has comprised and which Mr. Sussman has graciously agreed to answer:

1) 40 years later, most people rely on books like yours or the experience others went through to learn about Watergate. What was it like explaining this historic event to your grandchildren or younger colleagues?

2) Please tell us about the process of covering the Watergate scandal versus the process of writing your book.

3) What is it like to relaunch at book? Is it different each time?

4) With this generation having not knowing about Watergate and relying on textbooks to learn, why should your book be a part of the Watergate learning process?

5) What advice would you give to people going into journalism? What advice would you give to people going into politics?

6) Do you believe that journalism has changed since the Watergate scandal? What about politics?

7) 40 years after Watergate, what is your opinion about politics today? Do you think the political integrity has improved or worsened?

8) Do you believe that a president today could abuse power in the manner Nixon did and could he get away with it?

9) What is the relevance of Watergate in relation to the upcoming 2012 election? How can the public use your book for information on Watergate to make decisions when choosing the next President of the United States?
